Welcome to the consumer section of this website. The categories found in this section are devoted to the consumer—the person who is searching for an appropriate assisted living residence and/or the professionals who provide assistance, (i.e. Case managers, staff from agencies that help elders and their families, etc.).

Under Consumer Information, you will find definitions of assisted living facilities and adult family care homes. These are two congregate living alternatives available to elder Floridians and/or persons with disabilities. You will also find information on resident funding programs available to those who qualify and the resident Bill of Rights. Finally, you will find information on what to look for when choosing an assisted living residence.

Under Consumer Resources, you will find resources and links to other websites that provide consumer information regarding assisted living. We have listed state and local agencies, consumer organizations, Alzheimer’s organizations, toll-free complaint numbers, and other valuable resources.
